Name: Tink Contact: withereddawn[at]gmail.com [Public Application] Character Name: Aashiq Linnet Character Age: 38 Gender: Male Birthday (including year): February 17, 203 Current Location: Lismore, Ahestere House [Birth and Marriage if applicable]: House Linnet Banner Appearance: Two swords crossed over a moon on blue bordered with silver. House DescriptionHouse Linnet Rising from origins of a knightly house swept into exile, House Linnet were the original founders of Lismore and later on, Kings of Ahestere when they united the land under their banner. Just, honorable, and highly educated, the Linnets are a family that value the arts, especially that of painting and glass making as well as education. Those in the house tend to pride on making its members the most learned and cultured as they can. The Linnets value diplomacy over war and are more likely to seek peace before an outmost confrontation. They are widely respected in Forsilvra, however they are characterized for their more “wild” province so to speak with its hot temperatures, spicy food and the morals of its people are known to be more 'loose' than other areas of Forsilvra. However the Linnets are noted for their olive tinted skin and dark features and boast both Ahestere and Hazir descent, however their skin is not as dark as other families in Ahestere due to frequently intermarrying with other families in Forsilvra. It was their quick thinking in uniting with their Hazir invaders that kept them in power and the Linnets have high undertones of quietly working agreements behind the scenes with those they seek alliances with. Their motto is "We Forge Our Path." Player Base: Oded Fehr Appearance: Black hair and brown eyes are the trademark of Aashiq Linnet, although his skin is a noticeably dark olive. He stands at a taller height of six foot, and he makes sure his beard is trimmed and clean. He will occasionally go clean shaven but he finds he prefers his beard. He is built but not overtly so, possessing only mediocre training in arms and combat. He wears loose fitting tunics and breeches and head scarves at times when he goes outside to avoid the heat of Ahestere. His clothing is almost always light and breathable- there is no room for thick clothing in the heat. Personality: Aashiq is first and foremost, a quiet and articulate man. He thinks before he speaks and thus almost never second guesses himself. Aashiq has the rare ability to be exceedingly patient- which is considerable since his younger brother is more of a spitfire. Calm and rational, he outweighs all the pros and cons of a situation before taking action. Aashiq is seemingly bound by honor and a code- to do the best for his house, his province and his people. He almost always is quick to smile and laugh and the man is very easy going. He has a good heart, but do not let his kind nature easily over take you. For within the kind hearted man lies the viper within. Aashiq has the memory of a bear and is ruthless to his foes. He will seemingly keep his friends close and his enemies closer. He seems to be much kinder to his enemies than his friends- but once you make a friend out of the Lord of Ahestere you have a friend for life, that is unless you betray him. Aashiq would kill a man himself for betraying him and he takes no utter crime greater than betraying one's liege lord. He does not like traitors and liars. His ruthless nature almost knows no bounds and he has a fierce temper- so much that he is almost inhuman like when he is set off. One can tell when Aashiq is mad because he grows frighteningly quiet. He adores his children and can claim to love his wife- although quietly Aashiq is saddened he does not have a son. He hopes one day he will but for now he settles his hopes on all his daughters- he loves and treasures every one of them and rather spoils them and goes through immense pleasure in watching them grow and learn. His marriage was one for an alliance and Aashiq entered it hopeful- he came to view his wife as an equal partner and will ask from her input often. He relies on his wife to make sure Lismore and hi family are in running order (although he makes sure his brother is in line himself). Aashiq leads House Linnet with an authoritative manner but makes sure to give his family as much freedom as they can- he takes pride in making sure all his family members are well educated and well mannered. He certainly would not want them embarrassing him in the public eye. Aashiq is also a man that is not to be underestimated. He sees many things as a chessboard and wants his family to rise to prominence. He hopes to have his eldest daughter be a queen- perhaps his most moving goal in life. If he can have that he would die a happy man. History: It was a hot day, as usual when Aashiq, the first born son of Jabir and Josephine Linnet entered the world. Unfortunately to both his luck and chagrin, Aashiq was born the eldest son. His father was none the less pleased- he had his heir with his first born and not long after followed another son, Hakim. The Linnet family became complete with the births of Reia and Osiris and as the eldest Aashiq had much expected of him. Being born the eldest proved to be a burden, at least for Aashiq. He had much of his father's expectations for the future riding on him. He learned swordplay, education, ettiquette and whatever else his father decided to cram into his brain. Aashiq preferred more to read a book rather than spending time on the training grounds. It was alright anyway, Ahestere was more known as a province for the arts than their army. He did however take an interest in reading about past battles in Ahestere and other areas of the world. Aashiq has studied much military theory but has not actually fully lead any troops into battle- he hopes he doesn't have to. As the eldest child Aashiq frequently was in his father's shadow, learning everything he could to rule Ahestere. He attended his father's meetings, learned all the names of his father's bannerlords and did his best to become the next Lord Linnet. He knew he'd have to rule some day and being an ignorant lord was not an option. He had always remained protective and closer to his youngest sibling Reia and his younger brother Osiris, although it seemed from the moment his younger brother Hakim was born he was constantly at odds with him. Hakim was reckless and wild- there were plenty of times Aashiq thought he could control his brother and over time the two grew distant. He at least made sure he could put his foot down from time to time. His father died unexpectedly when Aashiq was nineteen, making him much younger than he anticipated he'd inheirt the Lordship of both Ahestere and House Linnet. Aashiq seemingly lost much of his jovial carefree nature- he became serious, studious and much more grounded. He arranged for his own marriage to a woman of the North- Lorelei Fitzwulf to strengthen ties between Ahestere and Arbercht. He greeted his bride with much enthusiasm however she did not grow accustomed to the heat of his home. His marriage was sealed with the birth of his first daughter Aesha, followed by two more over the years. He had his own sister married off to one of his banners and arranged his own brother's marriage however Aashiq took pride in his own growing family. He became a loving husband and father, although his marriage had started off awkwardly. He came to view his wife as more or less an equal partner but is saddened by not having his own son. It seems to be the lack of a son isn't totally on his mind but it is evident. Aashiq is a province lord without his own heir and he attempts to work around this. However when the plague struck Ahestere, taking his sister as well as his nephew and brother's wife he saw first hand what further sadness and grief could do to him. He put this behind him and has lead Ahestere to the best of his ability, ignoring the laughter that persists by his banners and others because he lacks a son and further qualms against his brother becoming Lord after him. Aashiq quietly plots on his own, reassuring his people of his leadership and that he may have a son still, however he plays the political chess game with his greatest ambition of all- his eldest daughter becoming a Queen. Writing Sample: He sat, holding the letter in his hand. He had stared at it for hours. How many times had he seen Reia's handwriting? He had memorized almost every way she had written her letters. He had missed Reia the most when she had married the Lord of Nabaris, but she had a happy marriage he could assume. Reia had been the jewel of House Linnet- although she had been replaced with the birth of Aesha and her sisters she hadn't been replaced in his heart. His niece- now would have to come here. Nabaris would be a regent but now- they'd have to say goodbye to Reia. “Get me more wine and tell my niece I wish to see her.” He looked over to his wife, grasping her hand for a moment to kiss it. “Abrielle shall have to be brought here. She will be like a sister to our daughters I hope. You are well?” He inclined his head to her. Lismore would mourn for now, and then it would move on. It would endure like it always had and he- he would have to remain strong. He could not break. [Time Line Events] Year 203: Aashiq Linnet is born. Year 205: Hakim Linnet is born.
