[Your Information]
Name: Latara Contact: semaphore [Public Application] Character Name: Lyneth Faerald Character Age: 15 (16 soon after game start) Gender: Female Birthday (including year): April 13, 225 Current Location: Caerthynas, Caelain House: Faerald Player Base: Karen Gillan Appearance: ![]() She has hazel eyes and the red hair typical of her mother's house. She has a slim, almost boyish figure and recently had a growth spurt that put her at 5’6”. Because of her figure, she tends to wear gowns that artificially give her curves, and is very particularly about gowns. She tries to dress well and showy enough for her station all the time, even when not at court. Personality: Lyneth has a sharp wit, and sharp mind, which while she was young, brought her trouble. Many people did not take well to a small girl correcting them. Since then, she has come to realize that often these things are best hidden, revealed only when it best suits the user. Now, she could pretty convincingly pass for a dim-witted noblewoman content to gossip should she need to, but that's not something she would do around her own castle. Really, she prefers to deal with people straightforwardly, but not to the point of getting herself in trouble. No, she'd much rather stay under the radar and do what she wants to do than constantly be under fire. Lyneth is bossy, strong-willed, a perfectionist, and can come off cold, even cruel. She isn't, really, she just chooses very selectively those she cares about. If you aren't in that group, yes, she can be cruel, but never without a purpose behind it. Her family is most important to her, and her friends scattered across various of the Houses that Faerald has close dealings with. She's certainly not warm, but she's very loyal. She would do absolutely anything to protect a member of her family or her family’s reputation. Lyneth is very convinced of the far superior status of the nobility, especially the province Lords. There have been some whispers that she's far too haughty for a mere cousin of a Lord, but she takes none of it to heart. Her birth is noble whether they like it or not, and Faerald blood is Faerald blood no matter where on the tree it lies. She thinks the noble way of life is amazing, but truthfully, she has lived somewhat sheltered from the cruelties of it. Her cousin (once removed) Tysilio is a kind and fair man, and she doesn’t quite realize that this may not be true in all Houses. Thus far, she has had no interest in the games men and women play amongst one another. She doesn't see the purpose of it, and she certainly doesn't see herself entertaining any gentleman aside from her future husband, whoever that may be. She has no interest in sex, but realizes that her future husband will expect heirs and is prepared for that possibility. She's not even particularly interested in the gentle flirting girls her age are expected to do to try to lure proposals - she's well aware that her House is far more likely to gain her a husband. She's more interested in the politics of court life than anything else. History: Lyneth was the first born to Uthaer Faerald and Annalisa Alysworth. Her father was a gruff knight, but he doted upon his two children whenever he was able, and their mother was around nearly all the time she could be, rarely leaving the two siblings with a governess. When she was with the tutors, Lyneth excelled at all her lessons, constantly in search of more information, and dutifully completely all her needlework, music, and lessons in hostessing that young girls were expected to take. She tended to order Thelyn around, being the elder sibling, and still does. Nearly as soon as Lyneth could talk, she developed a smart mouth. Small for her age most of her life, she was a rather unassuming presence amongst the people of Faerald unless she decided to chime in with advice. Luckily, most had come to expect it, but eventually her mother told her that she had to stop, it wasn’t fit for a Lady and she would soon become one. She learned to listen more, and talk less, and has become a better mind for court politics because of it. Lyneth loves to read about histories, and her favorite subject is the uprising in Lacharn and the other province’s aid that led to the creation of Forsilvra. She read through all the legends of the Five Horns when she was younger, and moved on to any concrete history that she could find in the libraries of the Faerald castle. She has no wish to fight in any battles, but finds the politics that surrounded the wars and the heroes that fought the battles endlessly fascinating. The plague hit Caelain, and it hit Faerald hard. The Queen, originally a Faerald, died in Belleile, and Maereus Faerald died with her. Lyneth had hoped it would stop there, but it also killed Tysilio’s youngest son and his brother. The last few years, people have been collectively holding their breath, waiting for the plague to strike those closest to them, and Lyneth was no exception. But the plague seems to have passed now, and court seems to be on its way to returning to normal, albeit warier. Lyneth is ready for this, she is nearly sixteen, almost grown, and knows this is a crucial time for her future. Writing Sample: News of the event in the capital spread throughout the castle this morning, and Lyneth knew there was much to be done. She stood in front of her mirror, adjusting her gown and making sure it was perfect before she went down to dinner, where the subject at hand would surely be wedding plans. Talk amongst the girls was certainly how to ensnare young King Adrien into a betrothal, but this didn’t bother Lyneth so much right now. Chances are, he’d ally with another Province House, considering his mother was Faerald. She was the right age for the King, but so was Deirdre, and Tysilio would certainly want that for his daughter, if it was Faerald again that provided a Queen. DeLauncey had young cousins, Lady Prothero had a young daughter or two, and Linnet was positively swimming in daughters with no son to be found. Fitzwulf’s sister was the heir, but that wouldn’t last. She was in no rush to be married, but the fact was, probably many marriages would be arranged at this event. Plague widows and widowers, people less afraid to travel, well, there would be many things. She would need new gowns, first off... perhaps she could speak to Father about that at dinner. Just a question: to what degree is Tysilio a cousin of Lyneth's? I know her father is his cousin, does that make Lyneth a cousin further removed? (I'm not familiar with the English terminology.)
Otherwise: approved. Seeing as you're also the Alysworths, I'll ask another Faerald to approve. Luke again, methinks.

generally colloquially many degrees of cousin-hood are referred to as your cousin, but technically in this case it's first cousin once removed. I changed it for easy reference!
